What is Part P?

Part P of the Building Regulations came into force in January 2005 in order to ensure that all electrical work carried out within a dwelling (i.e. a home or garden) is carried out safely by a qualified electrician and that building control is notified of this work. The notification is very important when moving house, because the compliance certificate is required by the buyers solicitors to demonstrate that any electrical work carried out at the house on behalf of the seller or vendor is safe. Failure to comply with the regulations could have a negative effect on the future sale of a home, and the onus is on the home owner to ensure the work has been notified.

Who are NAPIT?

NAPIT was formed in 1992 as the National Association for Professional Inspectors and Testers, with the aim of setting standards for industry. Since then NAPIT's role has evolved and expanded to become one of the fastest growing Government Approved register holders for Part P Registered Domestic Electrical Installers, while continuing to serve the needs of those carrying out equipment testing and electrical installation and testing in the commercial and industrial sectors.

Who are Trustmark?

TrustMark is a quality mark which operates a framework under which thirty plus scheme operators work in the Repair, Maintenance and Improvement (RMI) sector, including trade associations, local government trading standards teams, and independent scheme operators. These schemes are approved to carry the TrustMark logo and recruit reputable and trustworthy tradesmen. This enables the TrustMark scheme operators to promote improved RMI sector standards, and tackle related issues such as improved enforcement. All of these scheme operators are audited annually by TrustMark in order to ensure processes, standards and complaint procedures are being maintained.
