Electrical Testing

BK Spark provide electrical testing for both individuals and businesses in Sheffield, Rotherham, Chesterfield and South Yorkshire.

The easiest way to asses the electrics in your property is to have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). This report was previously known as a Periodic Inspection Report (PIR). Various inspections and tests are carried out and our engineers will issue a full written report as to the current condition of your property. The report is used in the following circumstances.

To asses compliance with BS7671

The electrical regulations change over the years and what was once deemed safe has now been made safer (i.e RCD protection). A fully serviceable electrical installation will deteriorate over time from every day use, (wear and tear / accidental damage). Over it’s lifetime it may have had alterations carried out by un-qualified people or DIY enthusiasts. Unbeknown to you the home owner there could be underlying problems.

Pre-purchase Survey

An Englishman’s home is his castle so there is never a more important time to have an EICR carried out. As most electrical cable is either buried in the walls or under floorboards, how are you to know exactly what condition the electrical installation is in from simply viewing the property. If purchasing your dream property surely you would like to know that you will not be facing an expensive repair bill at some point in the future.

For Rental Purposes

The Landlords and Tenant Act (1985) requires that an electrical installation in a rented property is:

Once the testing has been carried out and the installation is certified in a satisfactory condition the ‘landlords safety certificate’ is valid for 5 years. Therefore the cost of peace of mind is spread. Leaving you safe in the knowledge that both your tenants and your property are safe.
